JON
& LOOKING GLASS STUDIOS
In the late 60’s, while looking for a building to renovate into a community
theatre, my friends and I located a vacant, limestone church in central Indiana,
which we tried to save from the wrecking ball with grants, gifts, and donations.
About a week into the process, I walked down to the church and found large
stones, oaken beams and shards of colored glass lying all around. How could
anyone have such blatant disregard for this landmark and treasure to the community?
Who was responsible?
The Who wasn’t important. I held a piece of broken colored glass in
my hand and moved it this way and that to see how it changed as the sunlight
played with it’s textures and I marveled at its beauty. My love affair
with glass had begun.
I became a glass artist ..
Looking Glass Studios became my business.
Within a few years, I become a manufacturers’ representative, extensively
traveling
throughout the U.S. for the finest stained glass factories in the world.
The German, French, and English glasses produced were snapped up here in the
U.S. and gave a great push to the “studio” glass movement of the
‘70’s. Artists
today are gaining wider exposure because of the inter-net.
That exposure is well deserved. It lets you enjoy what you see, and see what
you enjoy! Whether you are looking for a commercial, residential, public,
or
private installation… Looking Glass Studios can custom design the perfect
stained glass for the application.
